Meet Pastor Jay Holliday

Pastor Jay is a native of North Carolina, growing up in the rural communities of Middlesex (Nash County) and Corinth Holders (Johnston County). He spent his childhood getting red dirt under his fingernails, letting his neck get even redder and camping with the Boy Scouts (Eagle Scout 1994).

At the age of 22, while serving his last year in the United States Navy, God saved him in a small, one-bedroom apartment in Virginia Beach, VA. That was the day God took ownership over his life and forever changed his course. He and his family moved back to North Carolina where God began building in him the passion to serve Jesus by giving him opportunity to serve in the local church.

Pastor Jay received the “call to ministry” from his home church, Central Baptist Church in Wendell, NC, in 2006, being called to serve as Student Ministry Intern and ordained in 2009. He served as Student Minister there until January 2011, when his family and he answered Jesus’s call to “Go.”

After serving in various ministry positions in Woodbridge, VA, and Nashville, TN, God provided Pastor Jay an opportunity to continue serving the local church by calling him to pastor Grace Baptist Church in March 2015. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from The College at Southeastern in 2009 and his Master of Divinity with Christian Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2012.

Pastor Jay loves teaching and preaching the Bible and seeing people experience their “aha” moment in their walk with Jesus. The “aha” moment is when someone understands the bigger picture/plan that God has for them in this great adventure/journey of faith with God. Bold and passionate in his preaching and teaching, Pastor Jay believes it is time for the church to wake up, Christians to “grow a spiritual backbone” once again and begin living their faith out more boldly and passionately in their daily lives.

He is married to his high school sweetheart, Natalie. God has blessed them with one daughter who is the spitting image of her mother in looks and attitude (smile). They also have a beagle that snores and loves to eat.
